Homes in this neighborhood are a walking distance from Pine Street Elementary, which makes it an excellent place to live for young families. Depending on the home you select, you can get even more desirable features like granite countertops and renovated interiors.
2. Fernwood – Average Home Price: $300,000
This well-established neighborhood has a lot of history. Known to be one of the earliest modern suburbs of the city, classic 1950s and 1960s era homes are integrated with modern buildings around the neighborhood. There is a delightful blend of contemporary homes and brick ranch homes that were iconic in the mid 20th century. Therefore, homebuyers will see large fluctuations in pricing.

4. Hampton Heights – Average home price: $129,900
Hampton Heights is the oldest neighborhood in Spartanburg and has many excellent historic homes. Those who want to live in a home with character will be thrilled with the layout of this neighborhood, which includes neo-classical, four-square, and Queen Anne style homes. You can also find mid-century bungalows which are so perfect for small families. In 1983, this iconic area joined the ranks of the National Register of Historic Places. Though it fell into disrepair in the 1950s, Hampton Heights has been recently restored with many renovation projects. Today it is experiencing a renaissance and is once again one of the most desirable places to live in Spartanburg.
5. Grain District – Average home price: $100,000
The Grain District is located between the borders of West Henry Street, St. John Street, and Spring street. This historic area is has been experiencing a renaissance too, with plans for new stores, homes, and other commercial opportunities in process. Currently, there are a few well-established homes in the area that date back to the mid-20th century or beyond. As the city continues to make plans to invest in the Grain District, new homes can be on the horizon to make this predominantly commercial district contain more homes. South Converse is a well-established residential area in the southside of Spartanburg. It underwent a massive renewal in the 1970s but still contains many of its original single-family homes.
