Wyoming, Michigan is 14 miles southwest of Grand Rapids. It is a terrific suburban area with a population of about 75,000. The median home price is a modest $100,600, although the homes in the best neighborhood are much more. The median household income is $48,579. Unemployment in this area is only four percent, which is much lower than the national average.

The cost of living is two percent less than the cost of living in other cities in Michigan and 14% lower than the national average. The crime rate is lower than the crime found in nearby Grand Rapids and three percent lower than the national average. The median age in this city is 34 years old. All of the neighborhoods with the finest homes are located towards the southwestern part of the city. Families enjoy these parts of the city because of the larger houses built on big lots. Grandville High School is located in this neighborhood. Going further south from this area one finds many rural farms and plenty of open green space with a much lower population density.

Home Styles

The single-family homes are nice and large with up to five bedrooms and three bathrooms. They are usually built on more than one acre of land. Many have swimming pools to enjoy during summer. For those not wanting to live in a detached home, there are luxury condominium developments and townhouses in this neighborhood as well.

The median price of the homes in this neighborhood is $252,955. This is higher than over 82% of the other parts of Michigan and 58% above the national average. The majority (65%) of the homes are owner-occupied. Rental homes have a median rent of $1,260, which is 73% higher than the rents charged in other parts of Michigan.

Things to Do in South Grandville

On the south side of the Rivertown Parkway, there is an extensive shopping area that includes Grandville Marketplace, the RiverTown Crossings shopping center, Bucktown Shopping Center, and the Wilson Town Center. Golfers enjoy playing a round of golf at Maple Hill Golf or the Ironwood Golf Course.

Gezon Park/Chateau Hills

Just to the east of South Grandville is the area that includes the neighborhoods of Gezon Park and Chateau Hills. The Vanguard Charter Academy and the Marshall Elementary School are located in this neighborhood.

Home Styles

In the southern part of the Gezon Park area, there is a nice housing development built around a small lake. Huge mansions can be found in Chateau Hills, which are popular with senior executives and other highly-paid professionals and their families.

Things To Do in Gezon Park/Chateau Hills

The area is named after the public Gezon Park that is 94 acres. It has baseball fields, football fields, basketball courts, picnic shelters, and playgrounds for the kids. There is a nice walking trail that goes around the park for about 1.3 miles. The Pine Golf Course and the Kaufman Golf Course are beautiful courses to play in this area.

Byron Center Park/Burlingame

Just south of the Wyoming City Center is the area known as Bryon Center Park found near the intersection of Byron Center Avenue SW and 36th Street SW. Adjacent to this area is the neighborhood of Burlingame. There are many public schools in this part of the city. It has Gladiola Elementary School, West Elementary School, Oriole Park Elementary School, Wyoming Intermediate School, and Wyoming High School. Wyoming Community College is also in this area.

Home Styles

The homes in this area are more modest tract homes with three or four bedrooms. Most were built between 1970 and 1999. Many luxury apartment complexes are built surrounding a small man-made lake. For those who prefer to rent, there are plenty of modestly-priced choices in this area, which keeps the rents low.

Things To Do in Byron Center Park/Burlingame

The popular public park in this area is Lemery Park. It has tennis courts and a basketball court. It also has sports fields for baseball and areas for fishing in Buck Creek
