Lincoln Military Housing: When you want to be as close to the base as possible, nothing beats official military housing. You get the easiest access to moving perks and support services to help you transition. Lincoln Military Housingcomprises 110 homes that service the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany. All military housing is strategically located near the commissary, recreational facilities, a gas station, and a daycare center to support military families.

  • Albany Hill Village: If you want move-in ready homes without the hassle, this well-maintained community of single-family and duplex style housing is located on the base. Albany Hill Villages serves ranks E1 to O7. Each house has a fenced backyard with beautiful views. Also, each unit has attached two-car garages and has access to community playgrounds, picnic areas, and a community pool. You can bring a maximum of two pets. Inquire in advance about any breed restrictions.

To start the housing assignment process, contact the Military Housing Office at 229-639-5962/3. You will then learn how to apply and where to download the application forms, which can be emailed or faxed.

Woodcrest Subdivision: Just a few miles west of Albany Hill Village, this small community is also close to the base. Located off I-82, it’s also convenient for families in which other residents commute to other workplaces. In Woodcrest, there are small to medium-sized single-family homes built on spacious lots. Plenty of trees provide shade even in the hot Georgian summers. It’s also just a short drive from local shopping and restaurants in downtown Albany.

Doublegate: This family-friendly area is located in North Albany and just a short drive to the base. It’s a small neighborhood with a diverse blend of homes and apartments. If you can find a vacancy, then it’s a peaceful place to settle for a season.

Woodland Acres: This neighborhood is near the heart of downtown Albany and conveniently located near the junction of route 19 and route 82. If you love nearby all the shopping, nightlife, amenities, and city life without being directly in the mix, then this suburban area that’s just minutes from the base is right for you. You’ll find everything from single-family homes to apartments in this area to suit your budget and housing needs.

Crestwood: The southeastern and western portion of Albany has affordable houses that are a blend of single-family homes, apartments, and mobile homes. Families that want to live off-base will find this area friendly on the wallet and not too far from all the comforts of MCLB and Albany’s many public amenities.

Sunnyland: If you like being directly in the mix, then this downtown area is going to position you right near all the amenities like restaurants and Riverside Park. Access a convenient commute to the base through route 234 that cuts through the city. If another member of the household works at Procter and Gamble or in various service-related industries in the city, then this neighborhood can provide a convenient arrangement for all.

Acree: Attention all water lovers! If you want to live near the Flint River, this small neighborhood in Northeastern Albany has plenty of waterfront homes. The properties in this area also average around $75,000, which cost less than the typical home in Georgia. Be prepared for a moderate drive to the base in exchange for this lifestyle, but if you love the water, it will be worth the commute.

All of these neighborhoods are not too far from Albany Airport, the Albany Civic Center, and many outdoor parks. If you need a change in scenery, a trip to the Florida Gulf Coast beaches is just 2.5 hours away. There are also many places to cool down near the Flint River locally.
