Spartanburg, South Carolina is a small city that is fully dedicated to enriching the lives of its 37,000 residents. The city's motto is "always doing" which is inspired by Spartanburg's ongoing mission to advance the local economy and fuel the vibrant local culture. The city is surrounded with gorgeous natural surroundings which include bodies of water and fantastic sights near the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Piedmont Interstate Fairgrounds

  • Highlights: There's always something new happening at the Fairgrounds, from the county fair to concerts, you'll be delighted to see what's scheduled next!
  • What to expect: A newly air-conditioned 11,000 square foot event center that hosts year-round events.

The Piedmont Interstate Fairgrounds is a famous site that has over 70 years of history. It started as a horse racetrack in the early 1900s and then became a place for NASCAR races. Today, the venue has been reinvented to be a multipurpose rental for various events. The fairgrounds can accommodate campers, rock climbers, concessions, rodeos, agricultural exhibits, concerts, circuses, and tractor shows. It is close to the downtown area which makes its events accessible to much of Spartanburg. Residents can find a wealth of things to do here all year long, regardless of weather conditions. There are also basketball courts here that are available for public use through the Adidas sponsored program "Celebration of Sport".

Morgan Square

  • Highlights: A historic spot in downtown Spartanburg, it is a popular place to socialize and go shopping.
  • What to expect: Depending on where you go, you can see live music, shop at the farmers market, or go ice skating.

Morgan Square, formerly known as Public Square, is a historic block in downtown Spartanburg that is located at the intersection of Magnolia and Main Street. It is the cultural center of the downtown area that has activity traced back to the colonial era in 1781. Today, it is a place where people still love to gather, shop, and socialize. There is a beautiful fountain in Morgan square and scenic urban sights that include the town's clock tower (called the "heartbeat of Spartanburg") and a statue of General Daniel Morgan, from whom the square gets its namesake. Between April and May, there are weekly Jazz shows on Friday nights. There is also a farmer's market held every Saturday morning between the months April through December. There is also an outdoor ice-skating rink that is in operation depending on the weather from November to January.

Chapman Cultural Center

  • Highlights: This vibrant wellspring of artistic and cultural leadership always has something new to offer the community.
  • What to expect: Depending on the event schedule, you can attend art galleries, open mic nights, art classes, wine tasting, or watch a movie.

The Chapman Cultural Center's mission is to " provide cultural leadership for Greater Spartanburg by developing, strengthening, and promoting the scope, excellence and educational role of the arts, humanities, and sciences, and to further their significance in the life of [the Spartanburg] community." This is the organization that fuels much of the funding for art and cultural education in Spartanburg. Its programs help more than 40,000 students each year enjoy the arts and learn more about it.
