University District

Distance from campus: Just a 5-minute walk

If you want to love close to campus but don't want to worry about parking or a long commute, then the University District gives you the best of both worlds. This vibrant community surrounds the OSU campus. It’s densely populated, so be prepared for some noise, but this fun environment is what you signed up for, right? This neighborhood is also near plenty of entertainment like the Newport Music Hall, Gateway Theater, Wexner Center for the Arts, and tons of restaurants.

Arena District

Distance from campus: A 9-minute drive or a 17-minute bus ride

If sports is your passion, then this neighborhood is for you. The Arena District is known for its lively athletic culture. Residents are always near Downtown Columbus and also to the Columbus Clippers and Columbus Blue Jacket games. It’s also near plenty of nightlife, North Market, and other social hot spots.

Brewery District

Distance from campus: A 12-minute drive or a 35-minute bus commute

The Brewery District is a historic neighborhood that's rich with old German and Italian architecture. This area, located south of downtown Columbus, has undergone a vibrant renewal in recent years. If you like wineries, the arts, and a little bit more room to roam, then this trendy-yet-low-key area will capture your fancy. It’s also excellent for dog owners because of its proximity to Scioto Audobon Metro Park.

Clintonville

Distance from campus: A 13-minute drive or 20-minute by bus

Clintonville is north of OSU’s campus and has a family-friendly feel, so it’s perfect for students who prefer more peace. Franklinton

Distance from campus: A 9-minute drive 17-minute commute by bus

German Village

Grandview

King-Lincoln

Distance from campus: A 10-minute drive 27 minutes by bus

King-Lincoln is a fun neighborhood that’s known for its good restaurants and exciting atmosphere. It’s also passionate about preserving African American history and culture. Experience this awesome community by visiting its parks, libraries, King-Lincoln Theater, and King Arts Complex.

Linden

Distance from campus: A 12-minute drive or 27-minutes by bus

Linden is located northeast of OSU. It’s ideal for students who want a little distance from campus but still have access to good dining and entertainment. There are also rec centers and public parks to satisfy anyone’s need for outdoor time.

Olde Towne East

Distance from campus: A 10-minute drive 30-minute by bus

This historic area is loaded with Victorian, Italian, and Queen Anne style homes. It’s also the seat of the Olde Towne East Art District. Residents enjoy charming local taverns, parks, and community events.

Short North

Distance from campus: A 26-minute walk, 7-minute drive, or 12-minutes by bus

Young professionals love Short North for its fine dining, upscale shopping, and art scene. It’s located south of OSU and is a popular destination for tourists. The nightlife is pretty grand, too.

Victorian Village

Distance from campus: A 28-minute walk, 8-minute drive, or 10 minutes by bus

Weinland Park

Distance from campus: A 16-minute walk, 3-minute drive, or 10 minutes by bus

Those who want to be close to the action will enjoy Weinland Park, a place full of entertainment, local shopping, excellent dining, and cultural experiences. Residents are also close to bookstores and the Schoenbaum Family Center.
