Rocky Mount began as a small town that was centered around the first post office in the area. This small city is located in both Nash and Edgecombe counties. Because of the city's investment into its local culture and natural beauty, it is a two-time recipient of the All America City Award.

Oakwood

This firmly-established suburban neighborhood contains small to mid-sized single-family homes and a few apartment buildings.
