Easley is a pleasant, small town in South Carolina with about 20,000 people. It is 34 miles east of Lake Keowee and 22 miles west of Greenville. It is in the northwestern corner of the state near the borders with both North Carolina and Georgia. The lifestyle is rural living with small-town amenities.

The median home price in Easley is $140,100 and the median amount paid for rent is a modest $693. The median household income is $44,000. This is about the same as the median household income in other cities in South Carolina. The cost of living is less than living in other cities in South Carolina and lower than the national average. This makes Easley an attractive place to raise a family. The best family neighborhoods to consider in the Easley area are:

Powdersville

Powdersville is another small community to the southeast of Easley. Traveling from downtown Easley towards Powdersville takes one through many luxury residential areas including Avondale Heights, Huntington North, and Yorkwood. Then, one comes to Powdersville. It is a nice small unincorporated community in Anderson County with about 7,600 people. There are two public schools there, Powdersville Elementary School and Powdersville High School. There are many new housing developments in this area that were constructed since 2000.

Home Styles

Single-story brick homes that are large enough for a big family are common in this area. Some homes have a dormer room on the second floor made from finished attic space. There are modest tract homes for tight budgets. For those who can afford it, there are huge luxury mansions with two stories, five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and three-car garages.

Housing Prices

The median home price in this neighborhood is $242,639 and the median rent is $1,371.

Things To Do

Molly Cooper Park is to the northeast of the Powdersville area, situated on the banks of the Saluda River. This park is great for fishing, hiking, and camping. The Champions Golf & Learning Center is fun to play a round of golf and take kids who are just learning the game. On Anderson Road driving towards Greenville, there is the Nightmare Dungeon Haunted House known for being one of the scariest haunted houses in South Carolina.

Kingsberry, Smithfields, and MiddleCreek

The center point of these three adjacent neighborhoods is the intersection of Crestview Road and State Highway South. This area is south of Easley. Almost all the public schools are found in the southern part of Easley. The schools in this area are Forest Acres Elementary, East End Elementary, Hunt Meadows Elementary, Crosswell Elementary, West End Elementary, Richard H. Gettys Middle School, and Easley High.

Home Styles

There are many high-density neighborhoods with newer tract homes built right next to each other. These housing developments are near the public schools and were built for families on a modest budget. Older homes are more expensive. They are built on larger lots and have big yards.

The median home price in this neighborhood is $231,628 and the median rent is $1,020.

Things To Do

Nalley Brown Nature Park is a fun place to go for a hike. Baseball games are played at Woodside Park. Easley Skate Center is family-friendly for skating. Just north of the Easley High School is the community-operated JB Owens Sports Complex. It is along Brushy Creek in Wyatt Acres and is amazing. It has eight baseball fields and six soccer fields. There is a full indoor gym with basketball courts and many sports activities for children, teens, and adults. The Smithfields Country Club is a popular private golf course with a clubhouse located between Huntington North and Yorkwood.

Forest Park

The center point of this neighborhood is found where Hale meets Lantem. This is the southeastern area of Easley where the homes are less expensive. The Tri County Technical College is in this neighborhood.

Home Styles

If you want to build a new custom home there are lots of one-half acre for $10,000 to $50,000. Many newer homes, built after 2000, are also available for sale. The most popular styles are single-story colonial homes and ranch homes made with brick. Most of the homes are two or three bedrooms. Some are larger homes of four or five bedrooms.

Mobile homes and manufactured homes are allowed and very modestly priced. Much of what used to be farmland or forest is available for purchase to use for real estate development. This is an up and coming area for the new construction of homes in housing tracts.

The median home price in this neighborhood is $168,848 and the median rent is $941.

Things To Do

Stores and restaurants are found on Highway 123, which runs east/west through this area on its northern side. Auto races are held at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway. It is off of Highway 123 going east towards Greenville. Many of the big-box national chain stores can be found on Highway 123 going west that connects with Highway 93 to downtown Easley.
