Keep in mind, reading about various neighborhoods is a great way to find the ones that sound most appealing, but it is also imperative that you visit each one. This will allow you to get a "feel" for the location and give you the opportunity to see if it really is best for your family. This is a big decision so be sure to keep the neighborhood options here in mind when trying to choose where you are going to live.

Forest Acres

The neighborhood of Forest Acres is best known for the amazing school system, the supportive business community, and the picturesque outdoor spaces. There are several new homes being constructed in this neighborhood, as well as established ones that may be available. Most of the homes start in the low 400s for this area. This city was originally incorporated in 1935 and provides a small town feel with urban surroundings. It isn't too much to think of this area as an oasis, offering you the very best in residential living.

Woodfield Park

Woodfield Park is a neighborhood with moderately priced homes. It offers plenty of space in the way of large yards, and most of the properties in this area were built between the years of 1970 and 1999. If you are looking for a quiet community, where people enjoy spending time outdoors and at home, then this is a great place to consider. While it is quiet and quaint, this neighborhood isn't located too far from the city, or from Fort Jackson, which makes it a great option for military families looking for a house that doesn't require a long commute time to get to work, so they can spend more time with their families.

Arcadia Lakes

Found off of Trenholm Road and to the south of Decker Boulevard, this community is located inside of the 2,288-acre tract found in Richland County. Originally, this neighborhood was agricultural land and made up of forests and lakes. Nearby, you will find an Indian Trail, which is marked by chops in trees. While this area started out as a rural community, today it has evolved and is the perfect suburban community for military families looking for a new place to settle down.

This neighborhood offers residents plenty of green space, tennis courts, a pool and playground as well as a clubhouse. The homes are large, but the access to the interstate is ideal. It's also close to downtown Columbia as well as Fort Jackson. It has the feel that you are "getting away" from the city, without being too far.
