5×5 Storage Unit

How Big is a 5’x5′ Storage Unit?

Let’s look at the numbers! A 5’x5′ is 5 feet wide and 5 feet long which equals 25 square feet. Many of our storage units have an 8 foot ceiling. Multiplying 25 square feet by 8 ft gives us 200 cubic feet of storage. This is equivalent to a regular sized closet.

What Can I Fit in a 5’x5′ Storage Unit?

You can fit a dresser, a small mattress, and some small and medium sized boxes.

How Much Weight Can I Fit in a 5’x5′ Storage Unit?

Many moving companies use weight as an estimate when performing long distant moves. Typically a studio apartment weights between 1,200 and 2,400 pounds. Depending on the size of the items stored you may need a 5’x5′ or a larger 5’x10′ storage unit. We recommend going with a larger storage unit if you’re not sure which size to go with. It will make packing easier, especially if you need access to certain items throughout your move.

Can I fit a Queen Sized Mattress in a 5’x5′ Storage Unit?

A standard queen sized mattress is 60 inches by 80 inches or 5 by 6.6feet. Many of our storage units have a 8 foot ceiling so technically you will be able to stand one upright. Just remember it may be a tight fit. While laying a mattress flat is the preferred way for storage, it can be done. We recommend calling our storage facility to confirm the height of our units.
