Frankfort, Indiana, is a small town in Clinton County. It is about 46 miles northwest of downtown Indianapolis and has a population of around 16,000.

The town, established in 1830 by the three Pence brothers, was named after the city of Frankfurt in Germany in honor of their great-grandparents who came from there. The first building erected was the county courthouse. It was made from logs cut down on the property for a total construction cost of only $20.

Museums: The Clinton County Museum has displays about the history of the area. It is in the historic district near the Old Stoney building. In the Frankfort Commercial Historic District, 57 vintage buildings were built between 1870 and 1947.
